Everyone was Irish tonight at Polish Hall in Riverhead.

Sure, there were some bottles of Zywiec mingled in with the Guinness, but plates were piled high with corned beef and cabbage and boiled potatoes, with nary a pierogi in sight.

The Riverhead community turned out in force for the Lions Club annual corned beef and cabbage dinner, a fundraiser to support the service club’s charitable activities.

Riverhead Lions Club tonight made a $2,000 donation to the Brendan House, a home for traumatic brain injury survivors being built in Riverhead by New Beginnings Community Center. Allyson and Steve Scerri and Kate DiMeglio of New Beginnings were on hand to accept the club’s gift.
