David Wicks, assistant superintendent at Riverhead Central School District, is taking a new job as the district superintendent of Eastern Suffolk BOCES.
He will be appointed to the position at a BOCES board meeting tonight, starting July 1.
“We’re very excited for him,” said Riverhead schools superintendent Nancy Carney in an interview last night. “He will be missed, but we will still be working together.”
Wicks, a Wading River resident, has served as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Riverhead schools since 2013. Before that, he was principal of Riverhead High School for two years and associate principal for another four years before that.
He was first hired by Riverhead Central School District in 2007 as an associate principal at Riverhead High School.
Eastern Suffolk BOCES is an educational cooperative of 51 school districts that provides cost-effective programs, classes and shared services for students. BOCES provides a variety of career and technical education programs for local high school students, including automative technology, cosmetology, engineering and culinary arts.
