A woman was airlifted following a two-vehicle crash on County Road 51 near the county center this afternoon that sent another adult and an infant to area hospitals.

The woman, driving a Chevy SUV, attempted to turn onto the divided highway from the county center complex and was hit broadside by a southbound Ford landscaping truck.

An infant in the SUV and the male driver of the truck were both taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

Riverhead Fire Department responded to extricate the woman from the SUV and secure a landing zone for the Suffolk Police MedEvac helicopter.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene a mutual aid request from Flanders Northampton ambulance.

No further information was immediately made available.
