Riverhead lost to Half Hollow Hills West 26-6 on Senior Day.
The first half was pretty evenly played by both sides, with Hills West leading 7-0 at halftime.
The steady rain got heavier in the second half and Hills West (4-2) tallied 19 more points before Riverhead was able to break through, and score on a pass from quarterback Kyle Kelly to wide receiver D.J. Chandler for six points. The field goal attempt was missed.
The Blue Waves (1-6) play their last game of the season next Saturday, Oct. 29 at Centereach High School, where they take on the Cougars (4-3) who are coming off a 26-0 win today against Smithtown East. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
