What better way to raise funds to support Riverhead High School’s cross country team than by holding a cross country race?
The Riverhead Running Club, a not for profit 501(c)3 organization is sponsoring a timed US Track and Field sanctioned pair of races this Saturday at Indian Island County Park. Part of the proceeds from the races will go to the Riverhead Cross Country Booster Club.
The race course is a sanctioned, certified marked cross country trail comprised of a 5K loop. The 15K race traverses the loop three times. The course winds through Indian Island’s 275-acre woodland grounds.
There is a unique new feature for this year’s race – 15k relay team of 3 runners. It’s a baton style relay; each runner does a 5k and hands off the race belted number to the next team member.
Entry fees are 5K – $35, 15K – $45, 15K Relay Team of 3 runners – $105 until Dec. 9. Limited day of registration available between 7 and 8 a.m. on the day of the race. Day-of fees are 5K – $40 and 15K – $50.
The race starts at 9 a.m. Check in time begins at 7 a.m.
