Riverhead lost to Smithtown West 57-56 in overtime yesterday.
Riverhead came out a little sluggish in the first half and seemed to struggle with Smithtown West’s speed up and down the court.
The second half was a different story, as an energized Riverhead team took control of the game, setting up, and sinking baskets from all around the arc. The game was an up-and-down battle, as regulation ended with the score tied 47-47.
The first overtime was once again a battle for the lead, with both teams taking the lead twice, but with Riverhead up 56-55 with 4 seconds left, Smithtown West put up a shot from the free throw line for the win, 57-56.
Riverhead’s next home game is Friday, Dec. 23.
