Riverhead’s Main Street was alive indeed last night, as thousands of visitors took advantage of clear skies and temperate weather to enjoy the Alive on 25 street festival.
“The weather was finally on our side,” said a happy Riverhead BID president Steven Shauger.
“It was great to see so many people enjoying our beautiful downtown.”
From classic cars on Peconic Avenue to Bubble-Palooza on McDermott, folks of all ages enjoyed food, music, exhibits, games, shopping and socializing.
“These events are an important piece in the continued effort to revitalize our downtown,” Shauger said. “Downtown Riverhead has so much to offer and an event like this reminds people that we are here 364 other days of the year,” he said.
“The restaurants generally do well during events like these, but it made my night to hear positive feedback from retail store operators that stayed open during the event,” said Shauger.
There are two more Alive on 25 events on the schedule this season: Aug. 24 and 31.
Editor’s note: Check back later for video from the event.
