What should have been a celebration on senior night turned to despair, as Riverhead was eliminated from the playoffs, losing to Bay Shore 67-59.

Riverhead’s game was sloppy, with errant passes, especially down low, and missed foul shots. A quick, physical and hungry Bay Shore squad made the most of Riverhead’s lackluster performance.

It started out fairly even through the first quarter with Riverhead leading, sometimes by as much as nine points, but Bay Shore roared back, got very physical in the second quarter, almost causing a near brawl under the Bay Shore basket. Bay Shore took a 31-28 lead into the locker room at the half.

Riverhead continued to miss key free throws at the foul line and couldn’t find any net on their shots.

Bay Shore maintained control and counted off the last clicks to Riverhead’s season with a 67-59 victory.

Quasheim Miller led Riverhead with 23 points, Cir’rus “CC” Davender had 11 points, and Cristian Pace had 8 points.

The graduating seniors were: Chelsea Cawley, Melissa Blackmore-Wigley, Izabela Radziwonski, Keeley Lynch (cheerleading);
Thomas Powers, Cir’rus “CC” Davender (basketball).
