Last year more than 100 runners showed their love for Mother Earth by entering the annual North Fork Environmental Council’s 5K Earth Day walk/run at Indian Island Park. This year racers will wind through the beautiful 275-acre Indian Island County Park’s trails again on April 22.
The entry fee is $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the race. Four family members can register together for a discounted entry fee of $75. Day of race registration begins at 8:30 a.m. (no day of race family registrations). The kids’ fun run begins at 9:15. Children under 8 years old race for free. The first 150 people who register are guaranteed T-shirts commemorating the race. The top three male and female overall winners and top three male and female winners in the following age groups: under 8, 9-12, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and over 70 earn awards.
Race entry includes refreshments, a post-race raffle, an awards ceremony and a water stop on the course.
