Voters yesterday approved Riverhead Free Library’s proposed $3.99 million operating budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, 179 to 82.
Voters also elected four people to the library board of trustees, including three incumbent trustees.
Newcomer Janet O’Hare received 114 votes, board president Louise Wilkinson had 111 votes, and incumbent member John Munzel had 104 votes. Each was elected to a three-year term. Incumbent Dean Terchunian, who polled fourth with 91 votes, was elected to a one-year term to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of trustee Keith Bossey.
Voters also approved a $12,375 budget proposition for Baiting Hollow Library, 163 to 92.
Polling, open to voters of the Riverhead Central School District, was conducted at the Riverhead library yesterday under the supervision of the county board of elections. The vote authorizes the school district to enter into funding contracts with the library associations.
