A West Virginia man was arrested on multiple weapons charges yesterday after Riverhead Town Police found him in possession of three semi-automatic handguns at the Greenview Inn motel on West Main Street.

An employee at the motel called police yesterday at noon to say he had recovered a loaded handgun at the motel.

Police said Russell L. Kirk, of Fairmont, West Virginia, was in possession of a loaded Glock 9mm and two loaded Taurus 45 caliber semi-automatic hand guns. One of the handguns was stolen from West Virginia, police said.

Police said Kirk resides in West Virginia and is working in Riverhead.

He was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, according to a police press release. He was held for morning arraignment in Riverhead Town Justice Court, police said.
