Riverhead Police Department report eight arrests last night at checkpoints and as a result of enhanced patrols in the holiday weekend enforcement efforts by the East End DWI Task Force.
Michael E. Pressler, 59, of Aquebogue was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations and held for arraignment.
Eli B. Kowalski, 30, of Brooklyn was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations and held for arraignment.
Cecelia Dmitrash, 36, of Flanders was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and held for arraignment.
Gelvin Santiago,30, of Riverhead was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and held for arraignment.
Tamien Trent, 36, of Mastic was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and held for arraignment.
Police also arrested three people for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. They were released on appearance tickets.
Members of the Riverhead Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department, Southold Police Department and New York State Police conducted increased enforcement throughout the Town of Riverhead, where several checkpoints and extra patrols were established throughout the evening.
Those arrested were transported to both the Riverhead Police Department and New York State Police barracks in Riverside where they were processed accordingly, police said.
East End DWI task force enforcement details are scheduled to continue throughout the year, police said.
