A pedestrian on Nugent Drive in Calverton late last night was struck and killed by a car.
Police this afternoon identified the victim as Manuel Monzon, 39, of Calverton.
Monzon was walking on Nugent Drive near Pinehurst Boulevard when he was struck and killed by a northbound 2001 Honda Civic at approximately 11:20 p.m., Suffolk County Police said in a press release this morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, police said.
The operator of the Honda, Tyesha Powell, 31, of Riverhead was not injured. One of the five passengers in the Civic was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for evaluation, according to the police report.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
