A roll-off truck westbound on Sound Avenue collided with a car waiting to make a left turn onto Twomey Avenue and then struck a utility pole, breaking the pole in two Wednesday morning.

A piece of the pole struck and broke the windshield of the car.

Sound Avenue is closed to traffic in both directions between Osborn and Edwards avenues and Twomey Avenue is closed between Youngs and Sound Avenue.

Neither the driver of the Crown Sanitation truck nor the driver of the Chevrolet sedan it struck were injured, police said.

The pole and lines are obstructing the roadway. PSEG has been called for repair. It is not clear how long the roads will be closed.
