Riverhead Middle School has a new principal.

Dr. Stephen Hudson was appointed to the post last night by the Riverhead Board of Education.

Hudson succeeds longtime middle school principal Andrea Pekar, who has resigned to accept a job in the Amityville school district.

The new principal has been serving the district as its director of professional personnel. He previously served as vice principal at the middle school, and held the associate principal position at Pulaski Street School and Phillips Avenue Elementary School.

Hudson’s contract will run from today through Jan. 8, 2023, with a starting annual salary of $184,562.
