A winter storm watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, with four to six inches of snow accumulations possible.

Accumulations on the East End could be lower, where snow will likely mix with rain in Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Snow could be heavy at times during the late evening and overnight, forecasters said.

Forecasters are monitoring the development of a low pressure system and computer models predicting the track of the storm. They expect the low to move rapidly to the southeast of Long Island near the 40/70 benchmark, but the track is still uncertain, forecasters said this afternoon.
