Riverhead Police detectives are investigating an apparent drowning in the Peconic River in Grangebel Park this afternoon.

Riverhead Police confirmed the deceased was a male; his identity has not been released. His body was removed by the medical examiner’s office.

Police were called on the report of a drowning victim at about 4:20 p.m.
