The male driver of an SUV was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after crashing into a utility pole on Fresh Pond Avenue this morning.

The driver was heading northbound at the time of the accident at about 10:40 a.m., police said. The driver was not charged with any crime. The accident remains under investigation.

The crash knocked over the utility pole and pulled the wires down. Fresh Pond Avenue will be closed most of the day, police said.

Wading River Fire Department heavy rescue responded to extricate the driver from the overturned vehicle.

Wading River Fire Department Ambulance transported the man to Stony Brook.
