Students at Riverhead Middle School learned how to sew a basic face mask during their family and consumer sciences class.
“I wanted to teach my students to be self-sufficient and make something themselves rather than depend on a company that’s selling them,” said family and counsel sciences teacher Amy Doucette.
The students selected a fabric, cut to size, pinned and sewed in elastic and learned how to pleat the mask.
