Update: Jan. 25 – Riverhead Police said Maria Mete was located yesterday in Glen Cove and has been returned to Little Flower Children’s Service in Wading River.

The Riverhead Police Department is asking the public’s help to locate Maria Mete, 13, who left the Little Flower Children’s Services campus without permission on Jan. 20 at about 11:45 p.m.

Police described Maria as a white female, 5’-1” tall, 140 lbs., with a light complexion and black medium-length hair. She was last seen wearing a black coat, jeans and black/red sneakers.

Maria left the campus with another Little Flower resident, Daisy Prudencio, police said. Daisy was located Friday in the Huntington Station area, according to a police press release. Maria is still considered missing and has been seen in the Farmingdale area, police said; she may also be in the Glen Cove area, according to the report.

No foul play is suspected, police said.

Police ask anyone with information as to Maria’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at (631)727-4500.
