Deputy Town Attorney Erik Howard will be appointed town attorney at tomorrow’s town board meeting, according to a resolution on the town board’s meeting agenda.
Howard will succeed Robert Kozakiewicz in the post. Kozakiewicz retired Friday.
Howard will be paid an annual salary of $139,000.
Howard joined the town attorney’s office in June 2017. He is a 2008 graduate of Hofstra School of Law and was admitted to the bar of the State of New York in 2009.
The town attorney’s office will be restructured, according to another resolution on the agenda. There are four attorneys in the office, including the town attorney, who is the department head. The three staff attorneys under the department head have had the title of deputy town attorney. Going forward, there will be one deputy town attorney, one chief assistant town attorney and a senior assistant town attorney.
The board tomorrow will appoint Patricia Murphy Theodorou to the position of deputy town attorney. She will be paid an annual salary of $138,500. Theodorou will start in the town attorney’s office on Feb. 14. She is presently an assistant district attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Theodorou is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law and was admitted to practice in New York in 1994.
Deputy Town Attorney Annemarie Prudenti will be appointed to the position of chief assistant town attorney, effective tomorrow. Deputy Town Attorney Dan McCormick will be appointed senior assistant town attorney, also effective tomorrow. Their salaries and other terms of employment will remain unchanged.
