The Rotary Club of Riverhead awarded $73,000 in college scholarships this year to Riverhead High School graduates, the largest amount the club has ever distributed in scholarships in one year.

Over the years, Riverhead Rotary has given out a total of $1,183,000 in scholarships to local students, the club’s scholarship committee chairperson Annmarie Zilnicki said.

“Rotary hopes to instill in these students our motto of ‘Service Above Self’ and our goal would be to have them return to the Riverhead community and become Rotarians themselves,” Zilnicki said.
