A 20-year-old man was arrested on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the stabbing death of another man in Riverside yesterday afternoon.

Gelber Lopez-Perez, 20, undomiciled, was arrested after an investigation of the stabbing, which took place at about 3:25 p.m. near Woodhull Avenue west of the Riverside traffic circle, Southampton Town Police said.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Lopez-Perez was held overnight at the Southampton Town Police Department and is scheduled to be arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court in Hampton Bays later today, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
