Main Street will be closed to traffic beginning at 3 p.m. today for the Alive on 25 Street Festival. The road will be closed until 11 p.m., Riverhead Town Police said in a press release. Police advise motorists to use alternate routes.
The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. with live music on multiple stages, a kids zone, street vendors, outdoor dining at local restaurants, craft beverages, food trucks and a car show.
This is the last installment of the summer street festival this season. Today’s date was originally reserved as a festival rain date. The July 14 event was postponed due to inclement weather.
Pulaski Street will be closed tomorrow between Marcy Avenue and Osborn Avenue for Riverhead Polish Hall’s Polish festival. The road will be closed from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Motorists should use alternate routes, police said.
The festival opens at 11 a.m. tomorrow and offers traditional Polish food, the John Stevens Polka band with dancing, and vendors selling traditional Polish wares.
The 2023 Riverhead Polish Independent Club King and Queen will be crowned at 11:30 a.m. At 12 noon there will be a presentation of national anthems. A re-enactment of traditional Polish wedding will take place at 1 p.m. The Polska Szkola children’s dance group will perform at 2 p.m., followed by a performance at 3 p.m. by the school’s parents and teachers dance group.
There’s no admission to street fair portion of the event, but a $5 admission is required to entree the outdoor event area, where the polka band will perform under a tent with a dance floor. Food will be available for purchase.
The event moves indoors from 6 p.m. till midnight. Inside the Polish Hall, there will be dancing to DJ Arthur Retro-Band and a cash bar will be available. Event ends at midnight. Admission to the indoor event is $20 for adults and teens, $10 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under free.
