Strong winds and heavy rain are expected to continue early this morning across the region.

Wind and coastal flood advisories remain in effect in northeast Suffolk until 10 a.m.

Southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusting to 50 mph are forecast this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A gale warning is in effect for the eastern Long Island Sound and Peconic and Gardeners Bays until 10 a.m.

Minor flooding, with up to 1 foot of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline between 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. today. High tide in the Peconic River in = Riverhead today is 7 a.m.

Rain is expected to taper off and end later this morning. Cloudy skies will prevail the rest of the day, the weather service said. High temperatures today will top out at about 60º.

The Thanksgiving Day forecast calls for sunshine all day with a high near 53º.
