The North Fork Breast Health Coalition’s 26th Anniversary 5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness took place Sunday morning at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.
Just under 300 walkers turned out for the walk and together raised 300 walkers $27,500, which NFBHC’s Bernadette Tuthill, co-chair of the event said was “our best year yet.”
The walk raises money to support the all-volunteer organization’s programs and services, including its “Lend A Helping Hand” grant program which provides people diagnosed with breast cancer who are currently under a physician’s care with a one-time grant of $1,000, and its Keri Lynn Stromski Stage IV Breast Cancer Research and Support Fund.
County Executive Ed Romaine and former County Legislator Sarah Anker attended yesterday’s event to support the organization.
