The Blue Waves boys varsity basketball team took down Walt Whitman Friday night, 65-56.
Whitman took an early lead but Riverhead came back and led 29-28 at halftime.
But Whitman wouldn’t go quietly, and the game was tied at 54 with just 2:30 left on the clock. But it was all Riverhead in the last two minutes and they built a 9-point lead before the final buzzer.
The Waves, now 7-6 overall, travel to Patchogue-Medford for their next game Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
