Riverhead Police are asking for any witnesses or information about an accident that seriously injured a tree service worker at a home in Wading River Monday afternoon.

Police said an 35-year-old male working for Raymond Brothers Tree Service was taking down a tree above a second-story deck at a home in Wading River when his support rope snapped. He fell approximately 40 feet, landing on the railing of the deck and then onto the ground below, according to a police press release.

The Riverhead Police Department and the Wading River Fire Department responded to a call at about 1:10 p.m. reporting a subject injured from falling out of a tree at 123 Beach Road, police said.

The victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by a Suffolk County Medevac helicopter due to his serious physical injuries, according to the police press release.

At this time the man is in stable condition, police said.

The Riverhead Town Police Detective Division and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating, according to the release..
