Southampton Town Police report the arrest of a Jamesport man Sunday night on a parole warrant and for possession of an illegal narcotic.

A Southampton Town Police Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction at 9:17 p.m. Sunday and determined through an investigation that its operator, Donald Feinberg, 46, had an outstanding parole warrant and was in possession of an illegal narcotic, according to a police  press release issued early Monday morning.

Police did not disclose the location of the traffic stop or the substance the suspect allegedly possessed.

Feinberg was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing where he was held for his parole warrant, police said. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance  in the Seventh Degree, according to the report.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
