A cold weather advisory is in effect again overnight and early Saturday morning.
The advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until 10 a.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service said. Wind chill values as low as -5º to -10º.
These conditions could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken, the weather service said.
The coastal storm forecast to bring blizzard-like conditions along a large swath of the East Coast Saturday night into Sunday is not expected to impact Long Island, other than some strong, gusty winds and the possibility of a light snowfall with accumulations of under one inch, according to the National Weather Service forecast issued early Friday afternoon.
A small craft advisory is in effect for local waters, including Peconic and Gardiners bays, until 6 p.m. tonight.
A gale watch is in effect for local waters on Sunday from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m.
