A 34-year-old man was arrested Saturday in connection with a series of reported larcenies from vehicles and a garage in Calverton, according to a Riverhead Town Police Department media release.
Police said officers responded Sept. 12 at about 6:59 a.m. to the area of Deep Hole Road for a report of damage to a vehicle and items being removed. A short time later, multiple residents on North Woods Road reported larcenies from their vehicles, and another resident reported property stolen from an open garage, police said.
The Riverhead Detective Division responded and conducted an investigation that identified a suspect, police said. A Riverhead Police K-9 unit also responded to assist and located numerous items believed to be proceeds from the reported thefts, according to the release.
Tyree Dawson, described by police as an undomiciled Riverhead man, was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies, police said.
Dawson was transported to Riverhead Town Police headquarters, processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
Police asked anyone with information about the incidents, or anyone who believes they may have been a victim but has not reported it, to call Riverhead Town Police at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
