William Raymond Bilski died Oct. 6, 2026, in Riverhead. He was 89 years old.
He was born July 21, 1937, the son of John and Mary (Kruel) Bilski. He graduated from Riverhead High School. He was married to Virginia Murtagh Barnes. He worked for the Riverhead Highway Department, where he served as a foreman. He was a 68-year member and ex-chief of the Riverhead Fire Department and former commissioner of the Riverhead Fire District. He was an avid New York Giants fan.
Predeceased by his siblings, John and Barbara, he is survived by his brother, Peter, and his stepchildren, Nancy Goodale (Edgar), William Barnes (Anne) and Linda Solomito (Jerry). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Oct. 8 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, with firematic service and funeral. A funeral service was held Oct. 9. Interment followed at St. Isidore Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Riverhead Fire Department or Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
