Eastern Equine Encephalitis

Two new mosquito samples taken in the Manorville area have tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus. Suffolk County has scheduled ground spraying in Manorville/Calverton area Saturday evening between 6 and 10 p.m.

Suffolk County vector control will spray areas of Manorville and Calverton by truck Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight with the pesticide Anvil to control adult mosquitos in the area, after another mosquito sample taken this month tested positive for EEE.

County health officials announced Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus was confirmed in five new mosquito samples in Manorville and West Nile virus was confirmed in 22 mosquito samples throughout Suffolk, including Riverhead.

After additional mosquito samples tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus, county schedules more spraying for Manorville-Calverton area.
