Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, Long Island's last independent community hospital, will become part of NYU Langone's health system under an agreement announced this week.

Many elderly live in "absolutely terrible" conditions, alone and lonely, suffering from depression and anxiety, he says.
A state review of the troubled health insurance co-op's financial condition found it to be "substantially worse than the company previously reported," the state Department of Financial Services said today. All plans will now end Nov. 30.
