A crowd turned out to the Riverhead Planning Board meeting last night to object to Riverhead Ciderhouse's site plan amendment application.

The Riverhead Ciderhouse added a 3,186-square-foot outdoor patio, adjacent masonry block wall, 56 parking spaces, landscaping changes and two wall-mounted speakers for outdoor music.

A new hard cidery on Sound Avenue with a tasting room and production facility got the green light from Riverhead Planning Board yesterday, ending months of contentious negotiations between the town and the owners of the ciderhouse.

Two new stores will be built in the parking lot of the Applebee’s restaurant, following the Riverhead Planning Board’s approval last week of a revised version of a site plan originally approved in 1999.
