The Holbrook man convicted of driving while intoxicated and killing 12-year-old Boy Scout Andrew McMorris of Wading River in a motor vehicle crash in Manorville on Sept. 30, 2018, was sentenced today to the maximum sentence of eight and one-third to 25 years in prison.

Thomas Murphy, 60, convicted in December on multiple felonies in the drunk driving death of Andrew McMorris, 12, of Wading River, is now due to appear in court on July 31.

The drunk driver who struck and killed Andrew McMorris, 12, of Wading River in September 2018 was convicted of all charges yesterday after a six-week jury trial in Riverside.

Thomas Murphy, the alleged drunk driver in the fatal crash that claimed the life of 12-year-old Boy Scout Andrew McMorris of Wading River on Sept. 30 will stand trial on multiple felony charges.

Thomas Murphy, 59, had an "extrapolated" blood alcohol content of .19 percent at the time of the crash, based on a chemical test of his blood drawn hours later pursuant to a court order.
