Veterans Advisory Committee

Riverhead's Veteran Advisory Committee and Rotary Club members are putting up 155 hometown hero banners in three of the town's hamlet centers ahead of Memorial Day this year.

The first 30 cherry blossom trees have been planted at Veterans Memorial Park as part of a new Town of Riverhead program to honor veterans and beautify the park. The town held a dedication ceremony there on Veterans Day.

Riverhead High School unveiled the Garfield M. Langhorn Veterans Wall of Honor Tuesday afternoon. The wall holds the name of 89 veterans and fallen soldiers who attended the Riverhead Central School District.

The benefits card offers discounts up to 50 percent on a variety of services and products, including eye and dental services, haircuts, shoes, massages and major car repairs.
