A two-car accident at the intersection of Kroemer Avenue and Route 58 sent an elderly woman to the hospital shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A woman was driving eastbound on Route 58 in her Toyota Corolla when she collided with a Honda Element turning right onto Route 58, according to police.
The female driver of the Toyota was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps with chest pains, according to police radio reports. The male driver of the Honda Element was not taken to the hospital.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No tickets have been issued at this time.
