The second knifepoint robbery attempt in two days took place at a Tanger Outlets store yesterday afternoon, Riverhead Police said.

A man described by an employee as a white male wearing a black-colored jacket, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and sunglasses entered the Movado Company Outlet Store in Tanger I, displayed a knife and demanded money from an employee at the register. The store employee ran from the area and the subject fled the store with no proceeds, police said.

The incident took place just before 5 p.m., according to police. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday afternoon, a white male wearing a black colored hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses, displayed a knife and demanded money from a clerk at the Sunglass Hut in Tanger II. He fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police did not say whether they believe the same man was involved in both incidents. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers has offered a reward in Tuesday’s robbery. See separate story.

Anyone with any information about the attempted robbery is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500 ext. 302
