Riverhead Highway Department crews will be paving local roads in Calverton and Riverhead today.
Slated for paving work, beginning this morning and continuing for most of the day according to Highway Superintendent George Woodson:
- Grumman Boulevard, from south gate to Edwards Avenue
- Middle Road between Mill Road and Osborn Avenue
- Edwards Avenue from Village Green to Sound Avenue
Northbound traffic on Edwards Avenue will be detoured at Riley Avenue to Twomey Avenue, Woodson said. Otherwise, no closures are planned, he said, unless traffic conditions and driver behavior merit additional closures, the superintendent said. Lane detours will be in effect.
Motorists can expect delays and should choose alternate routes if possible.
“We ask all motorists to please remain alert, slow down and have patience,” Woodson said.
