A 17-year-old girl running on a neighborhood road in Calverton was hit by a minivan that fled the scene, according to Riverhead police.

The girl sustained minor injuries and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Police said the girl was was struck by a dark-colored van on East Meadow Road in Calverton at around 2:30 p.m. The minivan drove in an unknown direction on Youngs Avenue, police said.

The victim was conscious and alert when police and ambulance workers arrived on scene.
