Riverhead Police are looking for three men wanted in the mugging of a 22-year-old man last night on the railroad tracks east of the East Main Street crossing at Riverside Drive.
Police said they were called at 7:45 p.m. on a report of an assault and robbery on the tracks between the rear of the Social Services building and the East Main Street/Riverside Drive crossing.
Responding officers located a a 22-year-old Hispanic male on the tracks who told them he had been assaulted and robbed by three black males. No further description was provided by police.
The three assailants removed $ 20 in cash and a backpack from the victim and fled on foot in a unknown direction. The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
