Riverhead Highway Department crews are paving in Manorville and Calverton this week. There will be some road closures and detours, Highway Superintendent George Woodson said.

Today, crews will be paving Shultz Road from Wading River-Manor Road to the town line, Woodson said. Shultz Road will be closed except for local traffic.

Tomorrow, paving will take place on Wading River-Manor Road from Middle Country Road to Grumman Boulevard. That section of Wading River-Manor Road will be closed to all but local traffic, the superintendent said.

The road closures are necessary for the safety of highway department workers, Woodson said.

“People speed past our workers, coming too close and it’s dangerous,” Woodson said. “They refuse to slow down.”
