The in motorcycle that struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk at Griffing and West Main Street last night.

A motorcyclist was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk on West Main Street last night, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police said Jacinto Anastacio Damian-Pu, 35, of Flanders was walking in the crosswalk on West Main Street and Griffing Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. when he was struck by a 2004 Kawasaki operated by Clarence W. Trent Jr.,44, of Mastic.

Anastacio suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps and airlifted by a Suffolk County Police Medivac Helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, police said.

Trent was held for morning arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court. The accident scene was investigated by the Riverhead police detective division. Any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact detectives at 631 727-4500.
