Shoreham-Wading River defeated Riverhead 5-1 in a non-league game Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Waves did the best they could to keep pace with a quicker, crisp-passing, polished team like the Wildcats.
Shoreham-Wading River opened the scoring in the first half on goals by Anthony Guzzone, Joseph Daleo and Kyle Michaelson to make it 3-0 over a much-improved Riverhead squad.
Riverhead tried to gain the zone numerous times, but a solid SWR defense wouldn’t allow it, as they added two more goals by Robert Marigliano, and Devan Palmer.
Riverhead finally broke through and scored its lone goal on a strike by Vincent Gattuso off a sweet feed from Oscar Corado.
