Sports, music and high school clubs will return to Riverhead in spring semester — COVID permitting
The Riverhead Board of Education voted unanimously tonight to fund spring interscholastic sports, music and high school clubs. The cost of the reinstated programs will be paid out of the 2020-2021 budget line for health insurance expenses, after health insurance costs proved to be lower than the amount budgeted.

A Riverhead High School student has tested positive for COVID-19 and a staff member at Aquebogue Elementary School has developed symptoms of the disease and is awaiting a test result, the Riverhead Central School District said in an announcement posted on the district website this evening.

Mason Maggio, RHS Class of 2008, was a two-day champion on the popular quiz show this week. He racked up more than $44,000 in winnings. The Flanders native, 30, now lives in Los Angeles, where he’s pursuing a career as a songwriter.
