The Blue Waves are playoff-bound.

Riverhead defeated Lindenhurst 75-52 on senior night at Riverhead High School last night.

After honoring seniors Kate McCarney, Kim Ligon, Faith Johnson-DaSilvia and Nia Johnson, the Waves got off to slow start. The team was just not in sync, having a tough time finding the net, missing some free throws and actually falling behind at one point. A time-out was called and it was off to the races and Riverhead took a 42-31 lead into the locker room.

The second half was a much better time for Riverhead. The Waves were solid throughout, stealing passes, make free throws, and hitting three point shots at will.

Riverhead senior Kate McCarney’s game-high 27 points led the Waves to a 75-52 victory. Seniors Faith Johnson-DaSilvia had 22 and Kim Ligon added 12.

The Waves ended the regular season with a 14-6 record overall, 8-4 in League 2.

Playoff brackets will be announced by Section XI on Monday.
