A heat advisory is in effect again today with temperatures and humidity combining for a heat index in the mid- to upper-90s, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The combined heat and humidity today may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.

The advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location, according to OSHA. Heat stroke is an emergency In cases of heat stroke call 911.

The UV index today is very high at 9. Use precautions to avoid sunburn if you spend time outdoors, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
