Fire destroyed a wooden shed and a greenhouse at a nursery on Main Road in Jamesport this morning.

The owner of Colorful Gardens, where the fire erupted to the rear of the property, reported the fire to police at approximately 9:40 a.m.

Jamesport Fire Department with the assistance of Mattituck Fire Department brought the fire under control within 30 minutes of the initial alarm.

“The shed burned up real quick,” Jamesport Fire Chief Gary Faucon said.

About 35 firefighters responded to the call, Faucon said. They fought the fire under the direction of Jamesport Fire Department Capt. Joseph A. Szot.

Riverhead Fire Department stood by at Jamesport’s headquarters. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported.

The fire is under investigation by the Riverhead Fire Marshal’s office.
