Riverhead Police are searching for three men who robbed a taxi driver at knifepoint last night.
Police received a report just before midnight of of a robbery in the B.J.’s Wholesale Club parking lot.
The 38-year-old male driver said he had been dispatched to pick up three men “in the Riverhead area” for a ride to the Route 58 parking lot.
Upon arrival, the men exited the vehicle and one of the men put a knife to the driver’s neck and demanded money, while a second man removed cash from the victim’s pocket, the taxi driver told police. The men then fled the scene on foot in a northbound direction towards Route 58, police said.
Patrol units conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the Riverhead Police K-9 unit, but did not locate the suspects, according to a police press release issued this morning.
The three men were all described as being around 5’-5” tall, possibly in their early 20s with a thin build.
